Iron outgoing connections to google

I just tried 47.0.2500.0 on OS X 10.8.5.
I thought Iron would prevent this sort of outgoing connections, but it doesn't.
I changed my search engine to duckduckgo to discard anything related to the search engine.
Yet, just by launching Iron, it still calls Almighty Google for who knows what.
google.com, your ccTLD, translate.googleapis.com, maps.google.com, and counting.
Can anyone share some light on this? Iron seems a little rusty.
