Netflix, Amazon Video error - widevine (os x)

hey guys,
when I try to watch videos on these platforms I get an error that widevine components are missing.
but when I try to update them in chrome//components, I get the message "components not updated".
I tried to reinstall the browser, tried to delete and re-download the widevine folder etc etc but nothing worked.
am I missing something? =/
do I maybe have to delete all chromium files and re-install everything? but how do I do that on OSX? simply deleting the browser from the applications folder wont delete all the other files.
I use OS X el capitan and have the latest Iron (Version 56.0.2950.0).
