Deleting thumbnails after deleting files

Post by DarrinRSimpson »

When I need to delete a file, is there a way to automatically delete its thumbnails?
I know I can delete all thumbnails in the ~/.cache/thumbnails folder,
but what I want is to automatically delete the corresponding thumbnail every time the original file is deleted.

Is there any setting or tool that supports this?

Please help me, thank you in advance.

You need to know that when a thumbnail is generated, its filename is usually a hash (like MD5) of the URI (path) of the original file. Once generated, the thumbnail service does not actively "keep track" of the existence of the original file. It is assumed that the thumbnail may stay in the cache until it is manually deleted or replaced. So what you want is not possible
