Is there a way to disable the nag to upgrade to Windows 10 when you open Iron for the first time after reboot?

This Chrome workaround doesn't work:
Open Start, type regedit.exe and select the Registry editor result.
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Google\Chrome.
If one of the keys does not exist, right-click on the previous and select New > Key. Name it accordingly.
Right-click on Chrome and select New > Dword (32-bit) Value.
Name it SuppressUnsupportedOSWarning.
Double-click on the name and set its value to 1.
Restart the computer.

When in doubt - it may have sth to do with the 'User Agent' (UA), the way the browser (client) is announcing itself to the webserver. Or more exactly, how the webserver is treating the client. Internally Iron is still very close to any other Chromium based browser (i.e. rendering engine, general behaviour), so a website should send the same data it would to e.g. Google's Chrome, or another similar browser (Opera, Vivaldi, Iridium, etc.).
I checked the website you mentioned, also yahoo.com (should be us version). You are right, it is messed. Please give Yahoo feedback, tell them you are using Iron browser, and that it behaves pretty much like Chrome - the website admins should treat it as such.

For testing I activate my addon 'User Agent Switcher', choose to set the UA to 'Firefox', then version Windows Firefox 33, then I reload the website - now it works, the Yahoo website is rendered properly it seems. Shows that not Iron (the browser) is at fault, rather the website (settings how content is delivered). You can experiment with other UA strings, to see if/how the server is tailoring content to a specific 'platform' (a certain browser/rendering engine).
Usually web devs know how to make sure their content is fully delivered and shown properly, depending on the capabilities of certain browsers (think of weaker portable devices, is why st an extra 'mobile version' of a webpage is created - UA is acting as a switch/fork for that).

Addon: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... kjnoahfmg/
Set to 'Firefox', choose 'Windows Firefox 33', reload webpages. Again, tell Yahoo via feedback option to fix that, should be easy.
See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_agent#Use_in_HTTP - first paragraph. Is where Yahoo is failing, why ever.

The link provides you with downloads for installer versions and portable versions (both 32 or 64 bits). Did you get the correct version (i.e. 32 or 64 bits) of the older Iron?
  • You could also download an 'IronPortable' .exe version, rename it to a .zip file, it is an archive actually.
  • Keep in mind, 32 bits and 64 bits variants of that .pak file might be different, so get the right download.
  • You find the resources.pak file inside 'IronPortable/Iron/' - copy it out of there.
  • Paste it into the installation directory of the browser, into the 'Iron' folder here. It should overwrite the original file.
  • Restart the browser.
