Sync HowTo/Alternatives

Starting from March 15th, Google will change access to it's own APIs like Sync for 3rd Party Chromium-based browser like Iron. Contrary to first news, the access will not be cut off, if the person who wants to test it is willing to do a little extra step (joining a mailing list). If you don't want this, you can of course always use one of the Google-Free alternatives listed below.


If you want to test the Sync from Google ("Sign-In"):

1. Go to https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.or ... staccounts with your Google Account:
2. Join the group
3. You can use sync

PS: After joining the group there will be no fancy message. You will still read "You don't have permission to access this content". Don't worry, just try sync, it will work!

Why should I spend any buck for this?
Iron+Floccus+Kee+KeePass
Storage could be organized on any WebDAV service. Box.com with free account is quite enough for bookmarks and passwords.
Portable Android device can use Kiwi Browser with the same addons.

afaik Kiwi browser is only available on the Google app store, is developed for Android mobile devices. They have their own homepage, but I have not read them mentioning either OS X or iOS devices, so chances are slim. They do however have some contact info, also a discord channel - you may ask them if they would offer a variant for Apple mobile devices in the future?

This message will stay, even after you become a member of the group. That is fine.
Try sync afterwards.

Will this obsolete login status icon be removed in next release? In fact it just waste the space at the panel.
Possibly there is some key in settings to remove it?
I know it is possible to log off and the icon will be grayed out - but I will lose all my addons in this case.

It is possible to signout from Google sync without losing the addons. If you don't activate "Clear Settings" when logging out .

Yup it works. Thank you. The only trace is grayed out icon wasting the space.
So just like feature request:
1. Possibility to remove this icon at all - in fact it is useless now.
2. Possibility to make the addons bar to be switched in multiline - sometimes I simply have no space to put addons icons there.
