The updater doesn't seem to know about Iron 63. It thinks Iron 62 is up to date.

Installed Version: 62.0.3250.0
Latest Build: 62.0.3250.0

You're up to date!
I'm guessing that whatever it's checking hasn't been updated for Iron 63, which begs the question: What (URL?) does this extension check and what does it compare against?

Thanks so much for Iron and the updater extension!

The Iron Updater Extension (v1.0.0.0) says my installed version of Iron is out of date (62.0.3202.94), but when I click on "About Iron" (chrome://settings/help), it shows that I am using the latest version (63.0.3300.0). Which one is correct?

I went ahead and updated Iron again, and I get the same problem: Updater Extension says I'm out of date, and About Iron says I am current.

Thanks for any help!

Seems that you manually modified your user agent ;) Please keep this up to date too.

I may have solved this issue (on my machine, at least): I went into the Iron Config & Backup Tool and turned OFF the option to "Enable extended Privacy" in the Configuration tab. Then I ran the Iron Updater Extension again and now it shows that I do have the most recent version of Iron.

So, I think the Config Tool's "Extended Privacy" option may be preventing the Updater Extension from correctly reporting the current installed version. Just guessing.

( However, this raises another question: Why would the Extended Privacy option in the Config Tool prevent the Updater Extension from seeing the current installed version when "About Iron" already correctly identifies the installed version? It almost looks like the Updater Extension is *sending* the current installed version number [and other info?] to SRWare.net in order for SRWare.net to compare that number with it's latest version database. It would probably be better from a privacy standpoint if the Updater simply retrieved the latest version number from SRWare and then compared that number with the installed version number already accessed by "About Iron" inside the browser itself.

In other words, the Updater Extension should only *pull* info from an external site, not *send* info to it. Just a thought. )

Hello,

may it be that the updater from the forum has to be updated here ?

I'm slowly starting to get more involved with Win 10 and then change from Win 7.
So at some point it was time to install Iron with the extensions.

At the attempted installation of the updater via the link here from the forum:
http://www.srware.net/downloads/iron-updater.crx

I get the error message: Package is invalid: "CRX-Header-Invalid".

After some attempts I have the updater extension also on:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/sear ... ater?hl=en

found. This was easy to integrate ! I did not test Github- (and possibly other versions).

The problem must have existed before the last Iron version, but it concerns
apparently only Win10 Pro x64 V.1809

Hallo,

http://www.srware.net/downloads/iron-updater.crx

I have just uninstalled this extension because I suspect it has been hacked by Google. The extension told me I was up to date but the customise and control dots turned to a circle and was told Iron was out of date and to click to update. Clicking led me to the Chrome installation download page. Today I visited SRWare.net to see there was an update of Iron which I installed. Upon click the extension icon I could see I had the update, 77.0.4000.0, but it told me the latest was 75.x.xxxx.x. I removed the extension and no more out of date messages appears.

I will not install the extension from the Chrome store and cannot install from SRWare.net (CRX-Header-Invalid)
